A weekend in Tallinn

Breakfast was delivered to our room. It was huge, I think I would have managed the whole day without anything else.

Voileipä. (Sorry for partly finnish post, but these don't really translate that well.)

 Naisten pesu puoti, miesten unelmaduuni.

15-31. Elokuuta. Taskuvarasfestarit, myös muille pikkurikollisille.

We purchased some nail polishes. Not all of them (or even most) are mine though.

A nail studio at our hotel room.

We climbed some narrow stairs to the top of a guarding tower.

Some of the steps were extra tall and narrow. It was also so dark at places, I couldn't see a thing.

 The pathway between two towers.

A scene towards the old town.

 More old and beautiful buildings.

My mom would never have come here.

Back home before sunset.

Lights and shells

I placed the old and worn out shell in the flowerpot with similarly worn white rocks.

Seashells from my last trip and a bigger one from the winter. I figured the flowerpots would be a safe place for them, away from Yoda's reach. He thinks their food.

Some are safly behind the class in the small table we made for them. Even though it's raining outside, I always have a summer and the beach in my home.

Couldn't leave this Pixar lamp in the shop. I've always wanted one just like it.

The figures from my other lamps are decorating my livingroom walls.

One is placed behind a plant and throws some scary finger shadows across the wall.

These two will never be separated.

The light looks like it's coming from waves of water, but is actually hitting my keyboard. :)

These tentacles make the artwork in the walls.

Sigma 50/1.4 EX DG HSM

As an early birthday present for myself, I bought a new Sigma 50mm lens for the camera. I've been thinking of it for a while, but was hesitating if the focal length would be a bit much for my purposes. Yoda posing as my first test image.

I was meant to walk home from the camera shop with the dogs and snap pictures on the way, but it started snowing so we had to postpone our outside shootout. Gizmo waiting for me to put the camera aside and start playing with her, after we got back in.

The old lens seemed wide for me after using only kit lenses for a long time, but this is huge compared to it. So far, I love it, but I'm eager to get to test it outside.

Canon 550D

I bought a Canon 550D body today, so here's a shot of both of them.

The new camera is a bit bigger and heavier than the old, but it has some very nice new options in it. Not least the ability to film full HD video and 720p video with a frame rate of 50 images per second. Ot also seems to handle the new Sigma's autofocus better, though I always thought it wouldn't have anything to do with the body and all mechanics would be in the lens. I guess not.

Introducing....

I got a new camera, Canon PowerShot SX210 IS. This is better fit to carry with me outside, unlike the heavy DSLR.

The camera produces really bright colors. Looks great with sceneries.

Gizmo and Yoda are my number #1 targets for photo shootouts. :)

A bit too bright sky. Tested a function that was supposed to intelligently calculate the exposure so colors show up just right even with background lighting.

Macro function. It doesn't work as well as I had hoped, it doesn't focus on the right target unless you do it manually. When it does focus though it takes beautifully detailed images.

More testing with macro.

I also found it much more difficult to take pictures of the kids on the go, than what I've used to with my EOS. Auto settings easily produce blurry images and with manual settings they often come out somewhat hazy as this one. Though I think I still have a lot to learn about how to hold so small camera steady.

Still targets are easy and it has this fun option of filtering all but one shade to b&w.

Like the roses.

A castropod family near my house. There's sometimes hundreds of them after rain.

I love the new camera. :) It has it's downs but it's great to keep with you and has so much better image quality than what I've had with my previous pocket models. And tons of neat little options! No need to feel bad about having the camera at home once again just as you'd find something fantastic to capture!

067 - 01.01.2010

A day after after people have thrown all their money in the air. How difficult would it be to clean up after yourself? At least most of it, I might still understand those parts that fall down, you can't see where they fall in the dark, but this has not fallen from the sky. Oh well, someone else can do it!

065 - 30.12.2009

I've seen a lot of photos like this in magazines and tried to copy the style. I think I did pretty well, considering it's taken inside in a room fully lit. A few water drops on the petals and it would of been perfect. :)

Flower decorations found inside the house. There's freezing cold outside, I advice no one to dare go there if not absolutely necessary!

Merry Christmas everyone. :)

If Cylons had motorcycle models, this is what they would look like! I'd be very cautious about it if it were mine, any moment it could turn against you!

I tried to capture the lights effect on the three layer window. I guess this turned out quite well with the backround of city lights and all.

I guess leaving the batteries in the old keyboard for half a year is not the best idea one might have. Though after touching them I'm positive about soon aquiring some super powers and becoming the Corrosion Girl supervillain!
